J. David Faber, Ph.D. is the Choral Director at Lone Star College - North Harris where he directs the concert and jazz choirs, and teaches class piano, music appreciation and ear training. His BA is from Shepherd University in West Virginia. He holds MM and PhD degress from West Virginia University in Music Education and Voice. In addition to his duties at North Harris, Dr. Faber is the founing Artistic Director of The Woodlands Chorale, and the organist for The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church. In his free time, he is an avid weight lifter and runner, having completed 20 marathons.
Janice Van Derbur was born in Caracas, Venezuela and began formal piano study at the age of 3, moving to Houston, Texas in junior high. She attended Sam Houston State University and furthered her studies at Tulane University, earning a Master of Fine Arts degree. From there she went to Paris, France to study. While living in Paris, Janice played numerous solo and chamber music recitals and won 3 prizes in competition at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, Belgium. Since returning to Houston in 1980, Janice has maintained a private piano studio in Northwest Houston and recently retired from the faculty of Lone Star College - North Harris. She regularly performs as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician.
